Findings: browsing the rule findings of an application

Filter, search and export the best-practice findings, and drill into individual occurrences.

Findings lists the rule findings for the application (or the selected scope) from the analysis chosen in the toolbar. Only the compliancy areas your licence covers are listed.

Filtering by area and priority

  • The tabs All, Maintainability, Reliability, Performance, Security, OpenSource limit the list to one area. The cards below the tabs show the rating, band and number of findings per area; click a card to show only that area's findings.
  • The priority bar shows how many findings there are per priority (Very High, High, Medium, Low, Very Low).

Filtering and searching rules

  • Show – All findings, New in last 7 / 14 / 30 / 90 days or a Custom range… based on the date a finding was first detected.
  • Show passed rules – also list rules that were checked and passed with no findings.
  • Only new findings – only rules with new findings since the compared analysis (see Comparing two analyses). When expanded, only the new occurrences are listed.
  • Search rules… filters the grid by rule name.
  • CSV downloads the rule list.

The rules grid

Each row shows the Priority, Category, Rule & finding (the rule's display name) and the number of Findings. Click the ⓘ icon in front of a rule to open the rule details: priority, technology, language, ruleset, number of items checked and number of findings, plus the Accept rule… action.

Click the › arrow to expand a rule. You see the rule description and the occurrences of the rule:

  • Status – Accepted when the finding has been accepted (it no longer counts), otherwise —.
  • Location – the element on which the finding was detected. Switch on Show full path to see the complete model path instead of just the parent and element.
  • Detail – extra information about the finding, such as the error-handling setting or the value that triggered the rule.
  • View – opens the finding in a dialog with the flow diagram, source and details (see Viewing a single finding). An Inspect action opens the element in the Inspector.
  • Search occurrences…, CSV and Bulk accept work on the occurrences of that rule.
